Rear yard Pavilion / Shade Structure
The Owners of this house were not able to enjoy sitting out in their lovely rear yard due to the southerly exposure and lack of shade.
We were asked to provide a shading solution that was integrated with the existing roof line, did not prevent too much natural light from entering the existing windows, but also offered an outdoor shelter from the sun and rain. An outdoor ceiling fan provides a cooling breeze and a skylight allows daylight to illuminate the space below. The tri-column steel structure supports an exposed wood ceiling/roof deck and standing seam metal roofing, the perimeter is skirted with a lattice of stained wood that filters the sunlight around the edges of the pavilion. We even selected the pre-cast pavers and designed the 'toothed' edge at the transition with the lawn.
So, what can we do with that garage door?
